Friday Homework for Lesson 7: Gate Stitch

Last weekend's Sunday Stitch School introduced the Gate Stitch. It turned out to be fun, quick and easy to make.

Here is my homework:
First I filled this block with Gate Stitches at different levels and without gaps. I think it looks quite nice.

Then I played around and made a small landscape stitch sketch where there is a Gate in the fence. Sorry it is not so easy to see, but it's there.

I'd not heard of gate stitch and what an interesting stitch it is. I am following your Trinity Green and what a lot of work. Amazing!

If it had been on counted weave the Gate would have been more obvious. I also had a go at making a fancy wrought iron gate with gold trimmings but the result was not so goo. This is a stitch for farm gates!

It would be nice for a real filling stitch on canvas.

Thank you Jocelyn,
I have seen the gate Stitch in only one of my books, so it might not be so well known.
Yes, there is a lot of work in Trinity Green!

The gate stitch is a nice little stitch, I like the landscape and I can see the gate, a nice combination of stitches!

As soon as I saw the stitch in Mary Thomas's stitch dictionary I though it was a very pictorial stitch!

Love the fence, gate and scene. It is a really good stitch to have learned. The grass below the fence looks so natural there.

A nice decorative stitch. I see why it is called gate stitch.

Thank you. I think you can do many things with this stitch. CrazyQstitcher used them for flowers.

And I love the way you used your Gate stitches for flowers.

Yes, the name is really appropriate.

Love your gate stitch! It looks a great filling stitch, I'm definitely inspired by this .... I'll have to get my UFO tapestry out .... it needs a lot of sea, and your stitch looks ideal!
Love, love, love your little scene, and I can see the gate ..... such a sweet scene!
